All donations are so greatly appreciated. Thank you for visiting Evan's site and helping
in any way that you can. Prayers are first and foremost the greatest gift you can offer.
Evan's website: https://evans-story.tripod.com/
Evan is an angelic 7 year old little boy who was born normal and lived the first 2 years of his life without as much
as a cold. He excelled in everything. He survived a massive stroke at the age of two, which landed
him on life support and many months in the hospital. At the age of four, he developed a seizure disorder which
set him back on several occasions, including over a dozen hospitalizations. At the age of five, he was diagnosed with an illness
which affects his brain called ADEM (acute disseminating encephalomyelitis) probably caused by bad reaction to his kindergarten
vaccinations. He has since recovered from ADEM but continued to struggle with right sided weakness and the inability
to speak. Our primary insurance carrier has decided not to pay for Evan's therapies, because they feel that it is "not
medically necessary". He has cognitive and motor delays caused by the stroke. He NEEDS his therapies.
At about $100/hourly, we pay out of pocket.
On February 28th, 2011, my beautiful son had a seizure and did not respond to the seizure medications that we can
administer at home. We called EMS and upon arrival they decided that they needed to bring him to the closest medical
facility rather than the Children's Hospital that he would normally go to. He continued to seize for a lengthy time
before the seizure was under control. His brain did not recieve enough oxygen while he was seizing. By the time
the seizure was under control, he was so medicated that he had to be placed on life support and was transferred
to All Children's Hospital. Two days after arriving at ACH, we were informed that Evan's liver and kidneys were in complete
failure and that his prognosis was extremely grim. He was immediately started on dialysis. We were told that he
has cerebral and pulmonary edema and that the tissues in his brain had suffered an acute hypoxic event. (lack of oxygen for
a considerable amount of time) The hypoxic event has caused multi organ failure. There are diffuse areas of his
brain that has stopped functioning. His left side (his non weak side) is non functioning at this point. It is
a matter of time to see what functions come back after the swelling goes down. Today is March 12, 2011 and my sweet
boy is still on life support. His kidneys and liver have made great improvements over the last several days and we are
praying that he regain complete functions of his organs. Dialysis will continue until further notice. I don't
know how long it will be until he will start to be more cognitively aware. That part is a heartbreaking waiting game.
My heart is aching for his smile, his touch, his return. Evan is a miracle, he has proved that time and time again.
Please, please keep up the prayers.

It has four windows and over 95,000+ cubic inches of internal volume. Wow! |
Two people fit in comfortably with room to spare. |
|
Evan can crawl around and play...or lay down, watch a movie and take a nap. |
He seems to like it. |
|
It's like being in a little submarine. Your ears pop a little as the pressure is increased. |
I WILL BE ADDING VIDEOS TO SHOW EVAN'S IMPROVEMENTS. BELOW IS THE FIRST VIDEO (3 WEEKS INTO
HBOT). CLIMBING THE STAIRS IS NO BIG DEAL...TO SOME PEOPLE. BUT FOR US, IT'S HUGE! HE IS CLIMBING THE STAIRS
WITHOUT HESITANCE NOW. WE ARE NOW LEARNING TO COME BACK DOWN.
3 weeks into HBOT ** click here to play video
EVAN NOW HAS HIS VERY OWN HBOT CHAMBER THANKS TO ALL WHO HELPED!!!
HE CAN ONLY GET BETTER AND BETTER!
What does Hyperbaric Oyxgen Therapy do?
HBOT uses oxygen at increased atmospheric pressure to enhance oxygen delivery to areas of poor or compromised
circulation, as well as in areas of tissue damage.
